Welcome to Pamela Giles Art
I want my work to feel transportive—to stir memory or possibility, and to offer a visual pause in the midst of a busy world.

Meet The Artist
I create art to help people slow down and see the world with new eyes.
Because when we pause—really pause—there’s beauty in everything. In the shape of a branch, the way the light shifts on water, or the hush of a horizon.
My paintings are rooted in this sense of presence. I work intuitively, drawn to color, texture, and light that evoke a feeling of clarity or connection. There’s always a moment during the process when the noise quiets, and I feel something click into place. That’s the space I want to invite you into.
Whether you're standing in front of an original or sitting with a print in your home, my hope is that the work feels like a breath of fresh air—calming, energizing, and fully alive.
Pamela's Story
Pamela Giles is a Canadian artist based in Grande Prairie, Alberta, where the wide-open skies and quiet forests of her childhood continue to shape her creative lens. As the eldest of four, she spent her early years building forts and gardens in the woods—learning to observe and appreciate the subtle beauty of the natural world.
Originally trained as an optometrist, Pamela earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo. Her scientific background gave her a deep understanding of vision, but it was motherhood that opened her eyes to the transformative power of seeing through an artist’s perspective. She began taking fine art classes and quickly fell in love with the way light, texture, and color could tell a story—and stir something within.
Pamela’s work invites the viewer into a moment of presence. Whether capturing the turquoise depths of water, the layered quiet of a mountain vista, or the shimmer of light on architecture, her paintings ask us to pause, feel, and reconnect. “I want people to experience my art in a way that excites them to see the beauty around them with new sight.”
Her home studio is filled with natural light and a variety of media—allowing each subject to be expressed in the way it calls for. Much of Pamela’s inspiration comes from her travels with her husband and three children. Together, they explore the world’s colors, textures, and cultures—from bustling cities to serene coastlines.
A recent trip to Provence, France, deepened Pamela’s connection to pastel as a medium. Studying under artists Debra Huse and Lisa Skelly, she was drawn to the pure pigments and the way they capture light with unmatched vibrancy. She is currently working on a new series of pastel and oil paintings inspired by the landscapes of Provence and the architecture of Paris.
